Thanksgiving Festivities...#1

Well, fortunately I am happy to say we all survived our first week of a family of 5 by ourselves...luckily we have fantastic friends that help bring us dinner 3X a that has been a big help. we are so blessed with such wonderful friends.

We were back to our normal routine of m-w karate and gymnastics and school t/th. since they start at 8:30 and travis' office is just a street away he was kind to take the kids this, that was nice!
Thursday they had their Thanksgiving feast at was so fun eating with them (and seeing all the other parents/ was kinda like a big party for us too..haha)...Ty's class made little indian costumes..and of course he was the cutest. hehe.. They had it decorated very nicely with each kids hand-made place mats on the table along with personalized place mats for parents. It was very well organized. They served chicken strips and then we parents all signed up for sides and desserts. It was very yummy. After the hour lunch we dropped our kids back off with their teacher and they went back to school...Hanna throwing a fit but Ty did excellent. They are out of school all next week for Thanksgiving so we'll just get to all relax...which will be great since it's suppperrr cold here this weekend and next week.

so sweet....

It's 29 here right now, raining/sleeting and while we planned last night to lounge, watch movies and stay in our pj's all day...we ended up having to take Claire to the dr...just to make sure her cold was truly still just a cold since she's got a lovely cough now. Being a nurse I tend to wait and wait until taking my kids to dr....but, after reminding myself Claire is just 2 weeks and has been congested and now coughing for a week I decided to take her in...and she is all well with a nasty cold...hopefully it'll go away soon....sure do hate it for her!

All ready for thanksgiving feast #1!

cutest little indian

getting their grub on...

 such a turkey..or
Claire was a little bored and slept through it!

It was absolutely gorgeous i made the kids play outside once we got home...bubbles are always a favorite!

but, after awhile they wanted to come in to "hold claire."
He's such a sweet, sweet big brother.

Wednesday night my mom took Hanna to gymnastics so I could be home when our friends came, it was just mommy and Ty time for a solid hour (claire slept). We had a great time playing pirates, and fighting the ninja turtles and batman. this little boy! The things I am learning. ha!

One cool pirate.

Last night we all dressed in our super warm jammies to be prepared for the cold that we were going to wake up in...Claire especially enjoyed hers! :)

Looks like Claire is going to be like her big sister and prefer the naked route...oh dear! haha...(she wiggled right out of her pants).

We plan on bundling up all weekend (it's days like this I miss our real fireplace), a few kids and a blanket help provide my warmth..haha.
Since I knew we were having a baby (haha..obviously) I started Christmas shopping this summer..ha! but, they have yet to be, with trav here that's my goal..get some gifts wrapped..and laundry..the never ending pile! ugh! and prepare for my favorite holiday...Thanksgiving...! whoohoo
Have a great weekend! :)

There are many things In life Travis loves...hunting being one of them...and at the, an added baby to the fam doesn't slow him down.. he's back at the deer lease leaving me a single mom. haha....but, I wouldn't have it any other way...he's doing what he loves...and provides yummy meat! I can't remember the last time I bought ground meat at the grocery store. I grew up eating only venison and I have a feeling our kids will be the same way. :)
Friday He and Ty went to the Deer lease and we girls just hung out...which was probably much needed for Hanna and I. Although Claire was here, while she napped Hanna and I played...just mommy and Hanna time. It was great! She just cracks me up with her expressions and phrases she says.

Saturday, we were all up early early but had a little family outing...I had planned on getting their pictures made at the pumpkin patch now that Claire is we drove to one only to find it was already closed...haha! never thought about it being closed after halloween...they should really stay open til the end of November..right??? haha...but, it worked out for the best anyways since Ty and Hanna both feel asleep in the car. So, trav and I got lunch (drive-thru) and we went better luck next year.

Love this pic of Trav and his girls!
and my little boy looking all gown-up

That afternoon one of their good friends, Mason, had his 3rd bday. Trav took ty and hanna and I stayed home with Claire. They all 3  had such a wonderful time at his construction/digger themed party!

Sunday, we had a relaxing morning all cuddled in bed....before Ty and Trav took off for the deer lease again...

I was soooo ready to get out of the house...and drive, shop and be independent we girls loaded up and where did we go of course! haha.
It was actually a very pleasant trip..Claire slept and Hanna could not have been better ( I may or may not have bribed her with a baby doll after she requested one..haha...but, hey whatever works!)  :) Very successful first outing..
Afterwards we met my mom for some much needed shopping...that wasn't maternity..ha! It was kinda weird shopping for regular clothes. Hanna is actually a great shopper....she LOVES anything that sparkles and finds things she likes and says, "That's cute." haha! and Loves dancing to the overhead music!lol.

My dinner date for the evening..she requested mac and cheese...and ate it all...very proud of her. sometimes she request things and then doesn't eat, she even got ice cream for dessert.
what a mess..

Target didn't have any cute she settled for this little Barbie...she might be into Barbie's after all. Oh dear!

And while we pittled in Midland....
Ty and Trav got their first buck of the season...Trav tagged a cull-buck and from the stories I have been told Ty was one Super excited  boy! He loves hunting and everything involved. Trav actually riffle hunted ( he typically bow-hunts) b/c it's a little easier with a 3 1/2 year old....and Ty just wears ear phones so the gun shot doesn't scare him.
I mean, could he be any cuter!!!! Love, love that little boy!
Trav said that was his best hunt special.  Even though it's a cull-buck we are going to have it mounted just for the sentimental memories!

Not only did I have my first alone outing in 2 weeks....I enjoyed my first glass of wine in 10 months..:)

and my mom got us this brownie skillet...she knows our love for this, I made me one tonight..yum yum. but, I made the mistake of waiting until the boys got home to eat it. so I had to share! haha.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday...and these are 3 of my biggest blessings....

We were very nervous about the pic below...but at least he held on...haha.

"Count your many blessings.."

Adjusting as a family of 5...

This was our first full week of all being together..back in the swing of a family of 5.  Although, it has definitely had it's challenging moments...It hasn't been too bad (knock on wood)...granted, we've had an in home nanny stay with us..aka my mom (hehe)..which was a huge help when It came to our lovely 2 year old( insert sarcasm) and the nighttime feeds...since I am nursing she obviously can't help feed but she was extremely helpful in acting like a nursery nurse (bring the baby to you when hungry..and call when finished..haha). j/k. And since I can't drive just yet she has been our chaffer places...we had a super full week of not only the kids activities but dr appt everyday as well (except today) so..she was handy in carrying us every place we had to be. she and claire also bonded a lot in the  middle of the night..since she seems to think she can't sleep unless in somebody's arms...but, in her defense, she has been doing great the last couple of nights...for the most part! She's definitely getting better. I mean, she is after all just 11 days old.
Our live in nanny left we are officially on our own...for a week and then Gamy and Granddaddy come to the rescue. :)
I am probably crazy to think this but I am actually excited to have just the 5 of us and try to get back into our normal routine...which includes me driving. :) My kids may or may not be on time for school and their activities..but we'll get there..haha. Since I had a c-section I haven't been able to drive..but I am feeling good and ready to get back to I am going to start my driving-chaeffuring services again to my kids. We are just too active/involved in things to not drive.

At home, life is crazy...not because of a Newborn but b/c of a certain newly turned 2 year old who is every bit of the phrase..."terrible twos." She's been a real peach..haha...but I love her to death..and she makes me laugh constantly...
So, How are the kids doing, you might ask?  Well..

Ty (3 1/2) is carrying on like normal. He understands the process and is a really good kid and hasn't been phased at all (at least it seems) by a new sister in the house. He is super sweet and gentle with Claire and is a great helper...if Claire makes a sound he usually rushes to  her or tells me why he thinks she is crying. Although he watched me nurse Hanna for 10 months the added year makes minds more curious and so many questions regarding the nursing process have been asked. He typically just tells me to "squirt the milk in a bottle and then give it to Claire." haha.  Last year at school, he did apparently pulled up his shirt and pretend to be nursing his lovie "snuggie" hopefully, he won't repeat that this year! ha! But, he is doing great and is just the sweetest big brother. He went hunting with his daddy today and once travis mentioned it earlier this week..he hasn't forgotten and waited sooo anxiously and patiently for Trav to get home so they could head to the deer lease. Love my little hunter! Ty also had a monumental day as he had his first "play with the neighbors before and after dinner time unsupervised!" It was a big day. He had such a great time playing with "the big girl and big boy" both whom are 6. I trust Ty in doing the right thing and not venturing, i know the other kids have boundaries and rules as well...I had to play with them at first (Ty's my shy one) and they were all very sweet to each other...but after supper Ty got to go play again and he did that all on his own...and then it was dark and they all went home! So proud and happy for my little boy but bittersweet as well since that means he's growing! :( I anticipate answering the door to a little and hearing, "can ty come out to play?"

Hanna, (2), on the other having a non-typical kind of way. First off, since she just turned 2 she is every bit in the "terrible twos" phase where "No" is her favorite word...along with  "why" and "because." She could not love Claire anymore...she is in fact, obsessed with her...she will not leave her side and is constantly in her face, touching her, kissing her, hugging her get the picture. Although we hate to discipline her for loving her sister... extreme measures called for interventions...and even with time outs and spankings (yes, we spank in our house)...that doesn't keep her away! ha. I can never leave Claire unattended with Hanna in the house...I do not trust what she may or may not do to her....nothing intentional..and nothing to harm her...but her smoothering love is a little forceful at times. haha. "Baby C-ware" as she calls her, is her baby doll. She wants to be "helping" at all times and wants to partake in everything regarding claire. I am running through wipes like crazy..not because of all Claire's diapers but b/c Hanna HAS TO have a wipe at every diaper change as well. haha!
She knows exactly how she eats and that she has to switch sides...Hanna will ask.."She dome?" (side note..she all of a sudden switched the "m" and "n" and says "dome" instead of "done" idea why.") anywho..I'll say "no." and Hanna replies back with, "other side." haha! she even helps me unsnap my nursing bras/tanks...she has that down too..since she is always in my lap while Claire eats! If Claire has her hand up in her mouth/face region hanna will take it down and tell her to "put your hand down." haha. She is actually quite observant..which she should be since she's always stuck to me or Claire.
She is a great big sister and Claire will have a very protective big sister her whole life!

our little Claire!

The hardest part of all of not being able to hold my kids...but especially Hanna. Ty understands my "boo-boo" and was so happy when I got my staples pulled out...haha...but Hanna although at times understands...when she is in a full out fit (aka...getting dressed, bedtime, etc) forgets. She's getting better about just holding mommies hand but it's still super tough! I went from holding her all the time to not being able to at, I couldn't be more ready for a few more weeks to pass so I can hold my little girl again! :) For now, sitting on the couch together has to work.

Claire is doing great. She is a good baby that really only cries when hungry or has a dirty diaper...she surprisingly is good with all the loud noises and smothering.  She eats every 2-3 hours and sometimes thinks it's ok to snack. She's a little petit eater!
Of course when we brought her home Ty and Hanna each had a the inevitable 7-8 days old Claire got her first cold...and all you moms know exactly how sad it is to hear your baby congested...i feel so bad for her! so ready for it to pass! hate it for her.
and around the same time..another inevitable happened as Claire experienced her first taste of Applesauce spoon fed to her by guess who??? yup, her "helpful" sister! ha. I think more got on Claire's shirt and cheek but i did see some lip, I guess she liked it! ..oh, hanna! Luckily, it wasn't a peanut, milk, or honey product! Ugh...I had  big feeling that was going to happen,..just not at a week old!

So, anyways..Roby party of 5 is doing well...just getting back into the swing of things!

Claire- 1 week

Today Claire is 1 week old. Crazy to think...hope time doesn't always go this fast.
She is a good little baby and really only cries when she is hungry...or not being held. ha! This poses a problem at bedtime. We have her in a moses basket in our room and but she has slept on me (I reside on our chaise lounge in our room..easier for me to get in and out of)...but, I will move back to my bed shortly and she will not be able to lay on me. ( I just can't do that).
So, we are still trying the whole laying by herself thing.
We went for a pedi check up today and she is back up to birth weight and added an ounce...she now weighs 7 lbs 2 oz...and gained 1/4" and now is 19 3/4 inches. :) just a growing girl.
On her 1 week celebration she made her first outing and went to watch Ty at Karate (and watched him get another stripe..he was so excited for her to watch him)...and then like mentioned above she went to the she had a big day!
but, of course, we had some time to sneak in a little photo session! hehe.

Hanging out at Karate..seriously, hanna never leaves her side..

Nap time with her big brother and sister....chillin in the window with the sun.

Our 1 week old baby girl..

Little Red Raiders...

When people hear the story of how Travis and I met...through a mutual friend after college....people are shocked. haha! Why, I don't know, but apparently that's a rarity! haha...and also after they hear where I went to college....Abilene Christian University...where the stereotype there for the girls is to get their "Mrs." shocking to some! I however, did not fall into that category in college and little did I know God planned on Travis to move to midland after he graduated from Texas Tech and for me to move back home after graduation. So, all that to say, I am a Red Raider fan by marriage...therefore, my kids are Raider fans! :)
This year since Gamy and Granddaddy got season tickets we have all been able to attend some Tech fball games since lubbock is just 2 hours from us. :) And Ty and Hanna have attended every home game I think! They both enjoy it and have learned all the songs, cheers and etc about tech fball.
This past weekend Aunt Ashley, Uncle Brian and Addison came to meet Claire and also got to attend the fball game..killed two birds with one stone..perfect! :)

The game was at 11 so they left midland at 7:30ish and traveled up to lubbock...Ty and Hanna rode with Ashley and Brian and I am sure kept them great company.. haha.

The three amigos ready to cheer on the red raiders...

Ty with uncle brian and cousin addison.
Hanna with Gamy and Granddaddy...

While they cheered outside...Claire watched the game with her eyes closed! :) hehe

Hanna enjoyed watching the game with Aunt Ash and doing the "wobble" dance with her.

That night they crashed....don't they look so sweet...I love how they love each other..

Ahhh....melts your heart!

With all the lovely season of Fall in west texas breathing treatments at our house are in full effect!...poor little, Ty! :)

Thankful for wonderful grandparents that are willing to lose sleep and be exhausted all for the fun of their grandkids! :) Next year they will get to tackle 4 grandkids! :) hehe!
